Biography
Showing the Discogs bio
British multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and producer, born 8 December, 1949 in Portsmouth, England - died 30 March 2023 at his home in London, England after battling a long illness.
In 1970, he co-founded the progressive rock band Gentle Giant along with his older brothers Derek Shulman and Philip Shulman. He remained a member until the last tour in 1980.
Shulman played bass with Gentle Giant and often doubled on violin, recorder, percussion, trumpet, acoustic and electric guitars. Shulman and keyboardist Kerry Minnear co-wrote much of the music for the band.
He became a successful record producer in the late 1980s and 1990s, working with The Sugarcubes, The Sundays and Ian McCulloch among others. He also has created music for several video games, such as Privateer 2 and Azrael's Tear, and works in DVD authoring.
