American composer, also known as Dick Rodgers (28 June 1902 in New York, New York, USA - 30 December 1979 in New York, New York, USA)
Father of Mary Rodgers, grandfather of Adam Guettel.
Considered one of America's most influential composers, as he wrote the music to many successful musical plays for screen and theatre, from 1919 to 1943 in collaboration with Lorenz Hart and from 1943 to 1960 in collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein II. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
