About
"Misplaced Childhood" is the third studio album by the British neo-progressive rock band Marillion, released in 1985. It is a concept album loosely based on the childhood experiences of the band’s lead singer, Fish, who developed the idea after a brief incident while under the influence of LSD. The album was recorded in spring 1985 at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin and produced by Chris Kimsey, who had previously worked with the Rolling Stone. "Misplaced Childhood" became Marillion’s most commercially successful release, debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart and remaining on the chart for 41 week. It later received platinum certification. The album includes the band’s two highest-charting singles: the guitar-led rock ballad "Kayleigh," which reached number two in the United Kingdom, and the piano-driven "Lavender," which peaked at number five. .
