Biography

Born 1948 in Brooklyn, New York; died August 2, 2026 in Surprise, Arizona, aged 78.
Mastering Engineer. Originally worked at in the early 1970s and was noted as the first Mastering Engineer to sign the lacquer with his initials "SJR". In 1974 he moved, later returning to Columbia/CBS Records (Sony Music) as a recording and then mastering engineer, working with artists including Bruce Springsteen, Simon & Garfunkel, Patti LaBelle, Ashford & Simpson, and Joan Jett.
He was chosen to cut the master for the Voyager Golden Record (opens in a new tab).
In the 1980s he became Manager of the Mastering Department at, until its closure in 2001.
