Biography

1970s boy band from Edinburgh, Scotland famous for their light glam rock, fervent (mainly female) fans and tartan-fringed clothing which those fans adopted.
They took this name in the late 1960s and, after some initial success in 1972, became one of the UK's most popular bands through 1974 and 1975. Further hits and international success came in 1976-77. Popularity declined through the late 1970s and they reformulated themselves as The Rollers in 1980.
Later years post 1980 were marked by the members playing in various permutations with other musicians and derivative group names and legal wrangles.
Two reunion phases ended in 2018.
