Getting started
Step 1
Install, and check the permissions
Install from the Shopify App Store. On the permission screen you should see products, and only products. If you ever see this app asking for orders or customers, something is wrong — say so and don't install it.
There is no account to create, no Discogs login, and no settings you have to fill in before anything works.
Step 2
Open it and let it read your catalogue
The app opens inside your Shopify admin and counts what you've got: how many records, how many are fully listed, how many are waiting. Nothing has been written yet.
Step 3
Run the barcode queue once
Go to Barcode queue and press Run barcode queue. It works through every barcoded record in your shop on our servers, so you can close the tab and serve customers. Come back to a count of what matched and what didn't.
This is the step that does most of the work on new stock, because new stock almost always has a barcode — the wholesaler needs one to sell it to you.
Step 4
Go and look at one on your storefront
Pick a record that matched and open its product page as a customer would. This is the moment to decide whether the house style suits your shop, while you have forty-nine free records left rather than none.
If the pressing is wrong, step 5 is the fix. If the writing is wrong for your shop, it is ordinary product text and you can edit it.
Step 5
Hand-pick the records that matter
Open Exact pick. Your most expensive unmatched records come first, because those are the ones where naming the right pressing changes the price.
Press Pick pressing, search the album, then choose the exact pressing from the list — it shows year, country, label, catalogue number and the matrix scratched into the run-out, oldest first. If the copy is used, add the media and sleeve grades and any flaw notes on the same screen, and they go onto the listing with everything else.
Step 6
Rough in the cheap stuff
Quick pass is for the dollar bins: one press of Best guess per record, cheapest first. The results are marked as guesses so you can come back and upgrade any of them later, and they are usually right — just not right enough to bet $180 on.
Step 7
Put it on your storefront
The pressing details are on your products now, but your theme has to be told to show them. In your theme editor: Add section → Apps → Gatefold, then drag it where you want it and save. There is a button in the app that opens the theme editor at the right place.
Four blocks come with it: Pressing Details and Tracklist for product pages, plus Grail Wall and New Arrivals — two shelves you can drop on your home page. None of them ship any JavaScript, so none of them can slow your storefront down.
Step 8
If you don't sell in English
In Settings, set the listing language. It changes what gets written onto your products — the spec labels, the condition wording, the Used tag — in any of ten languages. Grade letters keep their standard form, because a VG+ is a VG+ everywhere.
Before you go much further
Two pages worth five minutes each: what it doesn't do (including the fact that there is no undo button), and how matching works (which tells you when to trust the automatic lanes and when to pick).
