American jazz pianist and composer
Born August 16, 1925 in New York City, NY, USA
Died December 2, 2002 in Brussels, Belgium
In the late 1950s, Waldron was the piano accompanist of Billie Holiday in the last two years of her life and was a mainstay of being credited on about 40 of the label's albums, mostly as sideman with the sessions jointly led by Eric Dolphy and Booker Little probably being the most prized. After migrating to Europe in the mid-1960s, originally settling in Munich (Brussels for the last decade of his life), he recorded sessions for the then new and. For many decades he regularly collaborated with Steve Lacy. Father of Mala Waldron. Ex-husband of Elaine Waldron.
