American songwriter (mostly lyricist).
Born May 27, 1915 in New York, New York, USA.
Died January 18, 1966 in New York, New York, USA. Married to Elaine Rivers (Elaine Wise).
Wise wrote many of the songs Elvis Presley performed in films. Often collaborated with Randy Starr, Ben Weisman, Edward Thomas or Kay Twomey. Wise had at least 36 of his songs recorded by Elvis.
Wise was also a practicing psychologist, though he began writing songs while in college. He was a member of ASCAP for 25 years and graduated from Columbia University. Wise received a Ph.D. in psychology at Columbia University in 1957. He worked in the publicity department of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the film company after college.
