Biography

Radio Orchestra of the Southwest German public broadcaster SWF. It was founded in 1946 as the Südwestfunkorchester Baden-Baden and was renamed the Sinfonieorchester des Südwestfunks (Baden-Baden) in 1966. The orchestra is located in Baden-Baden and, since 1996, has also been based in the. In 1998, it was renamed the SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden Und Freiburg. Chief conductors: Ernest Bour, Kazimierz Kord, and Michael Gielen.
Its previous names between 1946 and 1948 were "Philharmonisches Orchester des Südwestfunks" and "Großes Orchester des Südwestfunks."
