Canadian singer, songwriter, composer and producer, born May 11, 1939 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and died January 7, 2022.
Taylor began performing Country & Western music in the Toronto area as a teenager and made his first recordings in the early 1960s. After recording for several labels, he joined Motown in 1964 as both a recording artist and songwriter. He worked closely with Holland-Dozier-Holland and later became part of Motown's writing and production team known as The Clan.
In 1970, he moved to Motown's Rare Earth label and achieved his biggest solo success with "Indiana Wants Me," which became an international hit.
Taylor continued working as a songwriter, producer and recording artist throughout his career and later established his own recording studio in Los Angeles.
