American Jazz and Gospel producer, composer for the Savoy and Prestige labels.
Born September 26, 1924 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Died April 9, 2008 Torrance, California (pneumonia, aged 83).
He worked at Newark's Radio Record Shop, whose owner Herman Lubinsky (aka Lew Herman) also owned, whom he later wrote numerous songs with including his only charted song, by Nappy Brown "I Cried Like A Baby". The song, co-written with Herman and Nappy Brown, hit #22 in 1959 on the U.S. R & B chart. Cadena remained a longtime staff producer for Savoy. BMI IPI #: 4779480.
When Esmond Edwards left in September 1962 for, Cadena replaced him as the new A&R director in October 1962. He came from to fill the position at Prestige. Father of Dez Cadena.
