Born in Charlotte, N.C., in 1948

John joined CTI after college having written a letter to Creed Taylor offering his services with music and law degrees. Initially joined A&M in mid-1974 as joint coordinator for the Horizon Jazz series out of the A&M Records 595 Madison Ave. NYC office. Between '75 and '77 Snyder started his own company and label called.
In 1986 he became Director of Jazz productions for Atlantic Records and working on revising the Atlantic Jazz anthology line. Snyder would rejoin A&M in 1989 to reissue A&M and A&M/CTI releases on CD as part of his portfolio of independent productions..
Snyder is producer of thirty-four (34) Grammy® nominated, and five (5) Grammy® winning albums. In 2004, he joined the faculty of Loyola University (New Orleans) College of Music and Fine Arts from which he has since retired.
