Died October 10, 1946 in New York City, New York, USA.
Brother of Joe Schuster.
Schuster worked as a pianist at various publishing companies on Tin Pan Alley in the early 20th century. He was also known as John Siras.
Best known for the swing number "In a Shanty in Old Shanty Town". Ran his own publishing company (, ). He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Ira's son, Wally Schuster, worked for the UA Music Group for over 30 years, including as VP & Creative Head of the Publishing Group.
