American singer songwriter and producer, famous for (co-)influencing the 1970s soft rock sound. Born on August 2, 1951 in Burbank, California, as son of Ernest Gold and Marni Nixon. Died from heart failure on June 3, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. He has 3 daughters from his first marriage, of which Emily is also a musician. In the early 1980s he was briefly engaged to Nicolette Larson. Later, until his death, he was married to Leslie Kogan-Gold who manages his legacy.
