Biography

Jake Smith is an American multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer and music producer from the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
He was the guitarist for punk band Crucifix in the mid-eighties and was also part of one of the first line-ups of Faith No More. He then played guitar in the reggae band Vince Black & The Crucial and in the late-eighties joined the R&B/funk band The Snapp as their drummer. Around this time he started rapping as One Take Jake, moved to Los Angeles and started producing acts such as Tara Kemp. He has also played guitar for the ska band Bad Manners on their 2010 and 2011 US tours and played drums for Bradley Dean & The Terminals.
One of his first production gigs was for the punk band Trial (opens in a new tab) in the early-eighties. He then produced several R&B acts in Los Angeles, where he frequently collaborated with Tuhin Roy. He has recently also recorded some punk and rock bands and spent some time in New York. Some of the acts he has produced include Calavera, The Woolly Bandits, Kevin K, and The Flamethrowers.
