American Academy Award-winning composer and conductor.
Born April 4, 1922 in New York City, New York, USA
Died August 18, 2004 in Ojai, California, USA.
In a career that spanned over five decades, he composed over 150 original film scores and scores for nearly 80 television productions.
His Hollywood works include The Ten Commandments (1956), The Magnificent Seven (1960), The Great Escape (1963), Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967, Academy Award), Animal House (1978), The Blues Brothers (1980), Trading Places (1984) and Ghostbusters (1984).
Father of Peter Bernstein (with his 2nd wife) and Emilie A. Bernstein (with his 3rd wife). Unrelated to Leonard Bernstein, though they were friends.
