"I Am... Sasha Fierce" is the third studio album by American singer and songwriter Beyoncé. It was released on 12 November 2008 by Columbia Records and Music World Entertainment. The album was recorded between November 2007 and August 2008, with production handled by Darkchild, Toby Gad, Jim Jonsin, Rico Love, Stargate, Tricky Stewart, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, The-Dream, and other. While the main track listing features no guest artist, deluxe editions include contributions from Lady Gaga and Kanye West. The album was released as a double album to represent Beyoncé’s dual artistic persona. The first disc, "I Am...", features slow and midtempo pop and R&B ballad, while the second, "Sasha Fierce"—named after Beyoncé’s stage alter ego—focuses on uptempo tracks incorporating electropop and Europop element. Beyoncé collaborated with songwriters and producers in sessions often accompanied by live orchestration. She cited her husband Jay-Z and jazz singer Etta James as influences on her songwriting. Musically, "I Am..." drew from folk and alternative rock with acoustic guitar elements in contemporary ballad, while "Sasha Fierce" was produced with contributions from Darkchild and Sean Garrett. "I Am... Sasha Fierce" received mixed to positive reviews and was a commercial succe, debuting at number one on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 482,000 unit, marking Beyoncé’s third consecutive US number-one solo album. It has achieved one diamond and over thirty platinum certifications worldwide, including seven-times platinum in the United State, and has sold approximately 10 million copies globally. The album received seven Grammy Award nominations at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards (2010), including Album of the Year, and won five, with a sixth award that evening breaking the record for most Grammys won in a single night by a female artist. .
