About
Dylan was always widely known for his raw, spontaneous approach to recording, so his embrace of more elaborate ‘80s production techniques here marked a major shift. But while the textured synth tones and big drum sound add drama, every Dylan album is really about the songs. And tunes like “Clean Cut Kid,” a visceral portrait of America’s culture of violence, and “Seeing the Real You at Last,” a trenchant takedown of a relationship gone rotten, are as vivid and vibrant as anything in his catalog.
