Biography

German symphony orchestra founded in 1945 by Kurt Graunke in München (Munich) and led by him until 1989, it was then renamed in 1990 to Münchner Symphoniker.
The orchestra used different names for their recordings, e.g. Bavaria-Sinfonie-Orchester for Deutsche Grammophon and Polydor with name variations like Bayerisches Symphonieorchester for various EMI labels and Bavarian Symphony Orchestra for Decca and Urania Records.
