Rick Laird (born 5 February 1941, Dublin, Ireland - died 4 July 2021, New York). Laird was the original bassist for the Mahavishnu Orchestra and also worked with jazz musicians such as Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, and Chick Corea. In 1982, Laird retired from music to pursue a career in photography. He found success shooting stock photos for agencies and also provided cover photos for dozens of record albums.
