Showing the Discogs bio

Greek-German singer, composer, lyricist, musician, and producer. Father of Vicky Leandros
Born August 23, 1923 in Astakos, Aetolia-Acarnania, Greece.
Died October 31, 2025 in Evia, Greece.
Leandros became renowned in Germany for his hit recordings as a pop singer and later as a prolific composer and producer, especially for his daughter Vicky Leandros. After emigrating to Germany in the 1950s, Leo found success with his 1960 version of “Mustafa,” reaching No. 2 on the German charts. He released numerous records in German, led the group Five Tops, and wrote and produced both national and international hits for artists such as Demis Roussos, Julio Iglesias, Freddy Quinn, and especially his daughter Vicky, including her Grand Prix victory “Après toi.” Leo Leandros was a pioneer who bridged Greek and German popular music for over half a century.
