Died: August 17, 2023, Bel Air, Los Angeles, USA
Jerry Moss, the ‘M’ in A&M Records, alongside Herb Alpert, transformed a fledgling label into a cultural juggernaut, influencing the music scene from the 1960s to the '80s with artists like the Carpenters, the Police, Janet Jackson, and Peter Frampton. Esteemed for his fair treatment of artists, Moss's values set A&M apart in an industry rife with transactional dealings. Post the lucrative sale of A&M, he remained a significant figure in music, his later years marked by philanthropy in the arts and thrilling ventures in horse racing, celebrating wins at prestigious events like the Kentucky Derby. Moss was inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 (Lifetime Achievement, non-performer).
