American singer/songwriter, pianist, and a star of the longest running network radio show, Don McNeil's Breakfast Club.
Born October 17, 1912, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Died January 26, 1982, Phoenix, Arizona.
Husband of singer and father of singer Mary Ann Owens.
He was known as "The Cruising Crooner." His songs have been covered by numerous well-known artists, although they have not always been correctly credited to him, having lacked adequate information about him, or have been mis-attributed to blues singer Jack Owens.
