Puerto Rican salsa singer, and artist.
Born: 30 September 1946 in Machuelo Abajo, Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Died: 29 June 1993 in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA (aged 46).
Salsa and bolero singer known as "El Cantante De Los Cantantes" (en: The Singer Of Singers). After moving to New York aged 17 he collaborated with Willie Colón on Johnny Pacheco's label Fania Records to produce more than 10 albums over an 8 year period until 1974, then going on to even greater fame working on his own.
Uncle of Louie Vega.
