Biography
American instrumental pop group, formed in Hollywood, California, founded in 1961 (originally spelled Mar-Kets). They are best known for their 1963 million seller Out Of Limits, which was composed by their founder Michael Z. Gordon. Recognising the start of a new musical “surfing craze,” Gordon wrote and co-produced the band’s first hit song Surfer’s Stomp. The single was first released on the Union record label. In 1963 the band signed with co-producer Joe Saraceno under the Warner Bros. Records label and released the full-length album Surfer's Stomp. The band would change labels later and has carried on into the 1980s.
