Biography

New York City-based band formed by Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan in April 1975 after they left the New York Dolls. Richard Hell was brought in to play bass and share songwriting and vocals, and in July, Walter Lure joined on rhythm guitar.
In 1976, Hell's increasing effort to sideline Johnny led to Johnny and Jerry firing him, and Billy Rath was brought in to handle bass duties. The band released the classic LP L.A.M.F. in 1977, but split up soon after. After 1978, they played on-and-off live shows, until Thunders' death in 1991.
