October 3, 1977:
L.A.M.F. was first released on October 3, 1977. The original version of the album had a mastering fault which resulted in the album sounding muddy. The following year Track Record went out of business which led to the band's manager Leee Black Childers burglarizing their office to take back the band's tapes. He found everything except for the master-tape. Since then, multiple attempts have been made to release a better sounding version of the album.
1984:
Johnny Thunders remixed the tapes in February 1984 and a new version titled L.A.M.F. Revisited was released that year. This version and all subsequent versions include the addition of the tracks "Do You Love Me" (originally performed by The Contours) and "Can't Keep My Eyes On You".
1994:
Jungle Records executive Alan Hauser had the tapes of alternate mixes from 1977 reviewed. The 300-plus mixes were narrowed down to create L.A.M.F. (The Lost '77 Mixes) (released with very similar artwork as Jungle FREUD CD044).
July 17, 2021:
In 2020 a copy master of the original 1977 Track Record tape was found in co-producer Daniel Secunda's attic and a proper sounding master of the album titled L.A.M.F. - The Found '77 Masters (USA & Europe 2021) (opens in a new tab) was finally released on July 17, 2021.
