Biography
Shu-bi-dua or Shu•bi•dua was a Danish pop group formed in 1973 that gained enormous popularity in the 1970's and 1980's, by many considered Denmarks "National band", popularity spanning several generations. The band was in essence becoming Shu-bi-dua because of a change in musical direction and singing language.
Lead singer Michael Bundesen left the band in 1984 for a media executive career but returned in 1987 and remained until 2011 when he had a brain hemorrhage that left him paralyzed on the left side and unable to continue. From then on the band's music legacy was mainly carried on in various settings by various band members. Guitarist Claus Asmussen and pianist Willy Pedersen formed the tribute band "Shubberne", but in 2023 the two left the band that still continues. Guitarist Michael Hardinger, bassist Kim Daugaard and drummerJesper Thorup also kept the band legacy alive with Hardinger Band which more or less became Shu-Bi-Dua 2.0.
The band line-up changed over the years, and at one time included producer, singer and solo artist Kasper Winding on drums 1982-1983, albums 8 to 10.
The band members had various side projects parallel to Shu-Bi-Dua, especially in the late 1970's.
Claus Asmussen, Michael Hardinger, Michael and long time Shu-Bi-Dua-producer Per Stan were also in Emanuel D.P..
Claus Asmussen, Kim Daugaard and Per Stan were also in the instrumental pop group Los Valentinos.
Kim Daugaard and later to become Shu-Bi-Dua-drummer Jesper Thorup were in the late 1970's band Aorta.
Kim Daugaard and Willy Pedersen was in the 1976 project Nation Wide Band.
Kim Daugaard, Michael Hardinger and Willy Pedersen were in John Spagnum & The Earthquakes.
Michael Hardinger and Jørgen Thorup had the duo-project Hardinger/Thorup in the late 1980's.
