Søs Fenger is a musician from Kongens Lyngby, Denmark, active since 1961.

Biography
Danish pop/jazz singer, guitarist and songwriter born on December 2, 1961 in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark. She prefers the nickname Søs (shorthand for "søster", i.e. "sister" in English). This nickname was always used by her family, since she has an older brother.
In 1980 she debuts with unrecorded band Sweet Intentions. Her breakthrough came in May 1983 she replaces Gitte Naur as singer in the pop-rock band News. Sings on the 1985 charity single Afrika (Denmark 1985) (opens in a new tab). Duets with 1986-1989 husband Thomas Helmig for the hits Når Sneen Falder (Denmark 1988) (opens in a new tab) and the AIDS-awarenes single Den Jeg Elsker Elsker Jeg (Denmark 1988) (opens in a new tab). In January 1987 she leaves News to go on a US nuclear test protest tour called "Next Stop Nevada" together with Moonjam. Then joins brother Lars Fenger in the pop-rock/soul-funk band Love Construction before pursuing a solo career. The first solo album Vinterdage (Denmark 1989) (opens in a new tab) in 1989 had already sold in 70,000 copies by the end of the year, and 150,000 copies to date. After a long break and then a summer tour in 1991, Søs Fenger moved to Stockholm, Sweden with new husband, Swedish guitarist Henrik Janson, and gave birth to their son August Fenger Janson. The Billie Holiday cover album On Holiday (Denmark 1992) (opens in a new tab) was released in 1992, which was positively received and had sold in 40,000 copies by autumn. There was a tour for the album in Sweden and Denmark. Søs Fenger moved back to Denmark in 1994 due to a divorce. The compilation album Gamle Flammer (Denmark 1997) (opens in a new tab) was released in 1997, which is said to be her biggest commercial success. She has occasionally performed with Hounddog Allstars, an all-stars group with members from the Danish music scene.
Søs Fenger was elected Danish songstress of the year in "IFPI-prisen 1990", "Dansk Grammy 1993" and the Danish Music Awards 2003.
