Denmark · 1979 – 1995
News is a music group from Denmark, active 1979–1995.
Biography
Danish 80's to 90's poprock band. Originally founded by Aske Jacoby in 1979 as Aske Jacoby Band the band later changed the name to News.
After recording two albums "Stereo Magasin" in 1981 and "Sæt Sejl" in 1982, Aske Jacoby and frontsinger Gitte Naur left the group. Gitte Naur was replaced by Søs Fenger who in 1988 was replaced by Nadia Stein. The group disbanded in 1994 after being a major part of what is often referred to as a golden age for danish languaged "innocent" pop, from the mid 80's to early 90's.
The group reformed in late 2024 with a comeback tour and a new single in 2025. The reformed band consists of Søs Fenger, Peter Biker and Jette Schandorf.
