American R&B/soul singer, songwriter, producer, arranger and actor
Born: 13th April 1951 Greenville, South Carolina, USA
Died: 2nd June 2026 Marietta, Georgia, USA
Joined Moses Dillard & Tex-Town Display in the late 1960s.
In 1975, Eddie Biscoe brought him to Bang Records for his debut single with Michael Zager & The Moon Band ("Do It With Feeling").
He specialized in duets, recording three duet albums (two with Roberta Flack and one with Natalie Cole) also singing with Chaka Khan, Melissa Manchester, Minnie Riperton, Linda Eder, Debbie Gibson, Regina Belle, Céline Dion.
With the last two, he won two Grammy Awards for his duet performances for two consecutive years, in 1992 and 1993, for the Disney movie themes Beauty and The Beast and A Whole New World (Aladdin's Theme), respectively.
His biggest solo hit was If Ever You're In My Arms Again (1984). In the same year he sung the movie theme for "D.C. Cab".
