All six albums in VMP Anthology were remastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, and pressed at RTI on high quality 180g black vinyl. The first five albums are from the master tapes. The sixth album was remastered from highest quality digital source.
Bebop: Horace Silver – Horace Silver Trio
Tracks A1, A5 recorded on October 9, 1952, Tracks A2, A4, A6 recorded on October 20, 1952, Tracks A3, B1 to B6 recorded on November 23, 1953.
Labels are incorrectly designated as Stereo.
Hard Bop: Dexter Gordon – Dexter Calling
Recorded on May 9, 1961 at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
Originally shipped with cover arts from 2004 Rudy Van Gelder Remaster CD issue, including CD catalog number, track listing, and remastering info.
VMP later shipped a replacement jacket printed using higher quality and correct original LP artwork and with the full original liner notes. A complete set will contain both jackets.
Soul Jazz: Lou Donaldson – The Natural Soul
Cover art and catalog number replicates the original Mono issue, however, the release plays in Stereo, as indicated on the labels.
Post Bop: Wayne Shorter – Schizophrenia
Some copies were pressed with the labels on the incorrect sides.
VMP later shipped replacement records with proper labeling. A complete set will contain two pressings of the album, but only one jacket. Both pressings may be labeled correctly, or there may be one reversed and one correct.
