The Magician's Birthday is the fifth album released by Uriah Heep. It was recorded and released in 1972. In 1996, it was remastered and re-released with 2 bonus tracks. In 2004, another remastered version was released with 9 additional tracks. "Blind Eye" and "Sweet Lorraine" both charted at low positions in the US Top 100 and "Spider Woman" climbed as high as #13 in the German charts. The title track is notable for a kazoo solo (played by Kerslake) and the use of "Happy Birthday To You" melody. The album's title was also the inspiration for the name of the.

The album was originally released worldwide in a gatefold cover with lyrics inner sleeve.
The cover shows the second sleeve design Roger Dean illustrated for the band; the first being Demons And Wizards in May the same year.
First re-released as remastered CD by Castle Communications in 1996 as ESMCD339 with two bonus tracks.
