This 2003 collaboration takes the best of Yes and places some of their many-faceted musical jewels in a 24-karat orchestral setting. So while nothing can dislodge the punchy funk of “Roundabout,” there’s a soaring “Overture” and a stunningly orchestrated version of “Close to the Edge” that bring out the tumbling, bittersweet glory of the originals, but with a more expressive range of dynamics. “Long Distance Runaround” is bolstered by stabbing strings that raise the drama, underline fanfares, and elevate these beloved songs heavenward.

Symphonic Live is a live album from the English progressive rock band Yes. The concert was recorded at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam on 22 November 2001, with the European Festival Orchestra conducted by Wilhelm Keitel. It was first released on DVD in 2002 by Eagle Rock Entertainment.
