About
Maiden went electro-futuristic on their sixth album, from band mascot Eddie holding a sci-fi raygun on the cover to their first-ever use of synthesizers alongside Adrian Smith and Dave Murray's trademark dual-guitar aggression. The results included one of the band's catchiest singles, the throbbing "Wasted Years," which recalls the glam-rock stomp of a vintage Slade song. Where some metal experiments with New Wave electronics sound dated decades later, the band's full-throttle energy and Bruce Dickinson's operatic vibrato are in top form throughout.
