About
Journeying to all corners of world music, 2012’s International Soundclash is a savory, roots-laden melting pot of rare, funky sounds—the second compilation of the Sofrito series compiled by DJs Hugo Mendez and Frankie Francis. Each song celebrates folklore with dance-worthy exhilaration: That depth (or height) of feeling gyrates through Caribbean soca on the soulful calypso jam “Vibrations Groove,” goes the Colombian cumbia route with the guiro rhythms of “Cumbia y Tambo (En la Lluvia),” and tears into a Congolese soukous dance-off on the jubilant “Pour chercher le magot.”
