About
A year after publishing his memoir, underground lifer Bob Mould released Silver Age, a high-volume bulldozer that harkened back to the bomb-detonating sound he crafted with Hüsker Dü and Sugar. Though he's done great work exploring disco beats and acoustic balladry in his later years, this reclamation fits him like an old glove. Hearing the high-speed introspection of "The Descent" or the cathartic riffage of "First Time Joy" makes it clear that there's no one else who can find bliss in distortion quite like Mould.
