"Rock in Rio" is a live album and video by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, recorded at the Rock in Rio festival in Brazil in 2001 during the final show of the "Brave New World Tour". The performance took place before an audience of approximately 250,000 people, making it the second-largest crowd of the band’s career, after their 1985 appearance at the same festival. The release marked the band’s fifth live album and followed the return of vocalist Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith. The recording features a selection of widely known songs from the band’s catalogue, including "Iron Maiden" and "Run to the Hills", alongside material from the album "Brave New World", such as "The Wicker Man" and the title track. It also includes songs from the period when Blaze Bayley was the band’s lead singer, including "Sign of the Cross" and "The Clansman". The video version was released on multiple format, including DVD, VHS and UMD. It includes the full concert as well as additional material, such as interviews with band member, a documentary segment about a day in the band’s life, and photographs by Ross Halfin. Iron Maiden’s performance at the festival concluded their 2000–2001 tour. Due to the scale of the event and its large live and broadcast audience, the band chose the concert as the basis for a double live album and their first concert DVD release. Filming was directed by Dean Karr, who had previously worked with the band, and involved the use of multiple cameras to capture the performance. Additional footage was recorded during other shows on the South American leg of the tour. .
