About
On Every Street is the sixth and final studio album by British rock band Dire Strait, released in 1991. It made #1 on the UK Albums Chart. Released in September 1991, Dire Straits' sixth and final studio album was not as successful as their previous album, Brothers in Arm, but still sold over 8 million copies worldwide. In Europe, the album sold six million copie, and in the USA, one million copie. Reviews for On Every Street upon its release were mixed. The album features American drummer Jeff Porcaro from Toto (the group's drummer Terry Williams had departed from the band two years previously). Dire Straits promoted the album with a gruelling world tour which lasted until the end of 1992. After the group disbanded in 1995, Mark Knopfler pursued a solo career and released his debut album Golden Heart in 1996. .
