About
"No Rest for the Wicked" is the fifth solo studio album by English heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne, released in October 1988. The album was certified gold in the United States in December 1988 and was later certified double platinum. It reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was the first by Osbourne to feature guitarist Zakk Wylde and keyboardist John Sinclair, and the first since "Bark at the Moon" to feature bassist Bob Daisley. Osbourne chose to work with producer Roy Thomas Baker after being impressed by the drum sound on Slade's 1987 album "You Boyz Make Big Noize", which Baker co-produced. The album marked the recording debut of guitarist Zakk Wylde. After the departure of guitarist Jake E. Lee in 1987, Osbourne received a demo tape from Wylde and subsequently hired him following an audition. Bassist and lyricist Bob Daisley returned to Osbourne's band after leaving in 1985 following disagreements with the singer. After recording for the album was completed, Daisley again departed from the group and was replaced by Geezer Butler, Osbourne's former bandmate from Black Sabbath, for the promotional tour. The songs "Miracle Man", "Crazy Babies", and "Breaking All the Rules" were released as singles and accompanied by music video. The track "Hero" appeared as an unlisted hidden bonus track on the original 1988 CD and cassette edition. The lyrics of "Miracle Man" were directed at televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, who had publicly criticized Osbourne's music and performances prior to becoming involved in a prostitution scandal in 1988. The song "Bloodbath in Paradise" references Charles Manson and the Manson Family murder. .
