A collaborative album designed to showcase the Netherlands’ Top Notch Records, <i>New Wave</i> helped launch the careers of a slew of young rappers, singers, and producers (including Ronnie Flex and Lil Kleine), going on to become a streaming phenomenon and winner of the country’s oldest music award, the Edison. Bright, energetic, and genre-fluid, the music here shows shades of club-pop (“Investeren In De Liefde,” “Drank & Drugs”), R&B (“Hoog/Laag”), trap (“Vallen In De Club,” “Dom Dom Dom”), even grime (“Dikke Gun”)—an internationalist blend that forged a new vision for Dutch pop.

Master for the V/A compilation "New Wave", originally relased by Vertigo UK but also released in other territories on different labels.
Only the French, Irish, Portuguese and Mexican versions of this album have the same 16 tracks of the UK version.
The Australian and New Zealand versions (which are different from each other) replace the Skyhooks song with another song.
German version also has 16 tracks but a significantly different trcklisting.
Japanese version only has 14 tracks; apart from the omission of both Runaways songs, there are other differences as well.
Dutch and Greek version only have 12 tracks; apart from the omission of both New York Dolls songs and both Runaways songs, this edition also replaces other tracks.
