The band's second and final album released by / in Europe on 21st August 2000 on CD only. It was subsequently licenced to other territories on CD and also cassette. The album was originally due to be released on (as with debut Music For Pleasure) but was rejected due to rapidly changing trends in music at the time. On release, "Monaco" received little in the way of label promotion and also suffered from its first single being withdrawn due to a sample clearance issue on a B-side.
After a run of live dates to support the album, with Hook returning to New Order and Potts focussing on his new project, Ram, Monaco split.
In 2025, the album was reassessed by / and reissued with bonus material and new liner notes. This also saw the album's first appearance on vinyl.
