About
When Megadeth’s debut dropped in 1985, it reaffirmed former Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine’s status as one of thrash metal’s leading lights. This remixed and remastered version updates the sound quality of the original while spotlighting the raw energy and dizzying guitar work of classic rippers like “Rattlehead,” the title track, and “Mechanix,” the galloping Mustaine composition previously reworked as Metallica’s “The Four Horsemen.” The reissue also includes demos, live tracks, and a new version of the band’s cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.”

The track These Boots is a Nancy Sinatra cover with altered lyrics. Unfortunately the song's writer was offended by the misogynistic alternate lyrics to what was originally a feminist anthem and refused to allow the song to be included on reissues uncensored. Some later issues are simply missing the song, others have the song with heavily censored lyrics (but an uncensored lyric sheet). Some versions of the album with the censored song call it Boots instead of These Boots and move the track from the end of side a to the end of side b (from track 4 to track 8).
The 2018 remaster album ("The Final Kill") contains a new performance of the song with the original lyrics from the Nancy Sinatra version, however its lyric sheet still has the offensive version.
