About

John Lennon is a cultural icon who wrote songs that will be sung for generations. His post-Beatles career was one of artistic wandering. 1970’s <i>Plastic Ono Band</i> was an intense self-analysis. <i>Imagine</i> was his utopian vision (“Imagine”) coupled with his vicious social commentary (“Gimme Some Truth”). <i>Some Time In New York City</i> is his most overtly political. <i>Rock ‘n’ Roll</i> is his childhood dream of playing his favorites come to life. The great moments (“Working Class Hero,” “God,” “Instant Karma!,” “Imagine”) are genius. The “average” moments still feature one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest voices and make him seem so endearingly human. The “home demos” showcase his brilliant humor. It’s an understatement to say the man changed the world. The iTunes <i>Signature Box</i> includes John Lennon’s studio albums from the ‘70s (<i>Plastic Ono Band</i>, <i>Imagine</i>, <i>Some Time In New York City</i>, <i>Mind Games</i>, <i>Walls & Bridges</i> and his collection of covers <i>Rock ‘n’ Roll</i>), along with the original version of his 1980 comeback album with Yoko Ono, <i>Double Fantasy</i>, the posthumous release, 1984’s <i>Milk and Honey</i>, and various home demos and studio outtakes.

Each original album is housed in a separate gatefold cardboard-sleeve, holding the corresponding disc(s) and a booklet. ('Some Time In New York City' includes the original additional 'Live Jam' long player, thus spans two discs and comes in a double-gatefold.) The sleeves and booklets reproduce the original album releases' artwork and credits, augmented by retrospective liner notes and images from the period.
The two bonus discs together are housed in one shared gatefold cardboard-sleeve, without any booklet.
In addition to the box's overall catalog number (only appearing on the paper wrap-around), each album features its own independent catalog number as well (appearing on the sleeve, booklet and disc). Whilst the 'Some Time In New York City'/'Live Jam' double-album additionally features individual catalog numbers for each disc, the bonus compilations 'Singles' & 'Home Tapes' (which are sharing one gatefold-sleeve) neither have a shared catalog number nor a barcode (their individual disc's catalog numbers appear on the shared sleeve and the corresponding disc).
The individual album/disc titles and main artists used in the tracklisting on this page, are taken from the corresponding artwork (sleeve and booklet) as they appear in this release.
Some variations can be found (in most cases simplifications, particularly on the sleeve spines and disc print):
Disc 2 main artist is simply 'John Lennon' on the spine and disc.
