About
"Demolition" is the fourteenth studio album by the English heavy metal band Judas Priest, released in July 2001. It is the second and final studio album to feature vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owen. The album is the only Judas Priest studio release to carry a Parental Advisory label on its cover, owing to profanity in the songs "Machine Man", "Hell Is Home", and "Metal Messiah". In October 2021, "Demolition" was reissued as part of the band's limited-edition "50 Heavy Metal Years of Music" box set through Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recording. "Demolition" is the second and final Judas Priest album to feature Tim "Ripper" Owens as lead vocalist. In 2018, Owens stated that he intended to re-record "Demolition" and its predecessor, "Jugulator", as he believed that his period with the band had been largely overlooked following the return of former vocalist Rob Halford. Since Halford's return, songs from both albums have generally been absent from the band's concert setlist, although Halford has stated that he is open to performing material from the two albums live. Guitarist Richie Faulkner has cited "Hell Is Home" as one of his favourite songs from the Tim "Ripper" Owens era of Judas Priest. The album was produced by guitarist Glenn Tipton, who also became the primary songwriter. Before Rob Halford's departure, the band's principal songwriting team consisted of Halford, K. K. Downing, and Tipton. Following Halford's exit, Downing and Tipton wrote all of the material for "Jugulator". On "Demolition", many of the songs were written solely by Tipton, while Downing contributed to several track. Former producer Chris Tsangaride, who had previously co-written "A Touch of Evil" from "Painkiller", also contributed to the writing of several song. Drummer Scott Travis co-wrote "Cyberface", marking his only songwriting credit with Judas Priest. Don Airey made a guest appearance on keyboard, his first with the band since performing on "A Touch of Evil". .
