About
Chuck Berry’s influence on rock ‘n’ roll is so entrenched that it’s hard to imagine a world in which "Johnny B. Goode" and "Roll Over Beethoven" don't exist. But those aren't the only anthems on this album: "Little Queenie" and "Carol" feature those indelible guitar licks and his band’s floor-shaking groove. Berry also branched out on "Almost Grown," his first recording featuring backup singers (the female voice sweetening the chorus is that of Etta James). Meanwhile, the laidback, island-styled guitar instrumental "Blues for Hawaiians" proves that even Chuck had to relax sometimes.
