Back On Top is a Rock album by Carl Perkins, originally released in 2000. On Gatefold: 2 pressings tracked.
About
In 1968, rockabilly pioneer Carl Perkins returned to Columbia Records and immediately released one of the best records of his career, “Restless”. Already a star of The Johnny Cash Show, Perkins was back in the charts and his career was once again on the upturn. This 4-CD collection gathers Perkins’ complete recordings from his second Columbia tenure (1968–1972) and his later sessions for Mercury Records (1973–1975). It includes 20 previously unissued recordings, the full sessions with NRBQ, and the complete “My Kind of Country” sessions, along with his tribute to Elvis Presley and the song “Daddy Sang Bass”, later a hit for Johnny Cash. A bonus disc of previously unreleased demos highlights Perkins at his most raw and inspired, while a 36-page booklet features a newly researched biography by Colin Escott, a complete discography, and rare photographs.
