About

Ascending to Infinity is the first studio album by Italian symphonic power metal band Luca Turilli's Rhapsody, created by Luca Turilli after his departure from Rhapsody of Fire. It was released in June 22, 2012 via Nuclear Blast. Considered by the band member as their own "Rhapsody's 11th album", it is the only album to feature Alex Holzwarth on drums, as currently he is only a member of Rhapsody of Fire. All songs written and composed by Luca Turilli, except "Luna" by Romano Musumarra and Giorgio Flavio Pintus.

* Bonus tracks "March of Time" (Helloween cover) and "In the Mirror" (Loudness cover) are available in the Japanese and Mexican editions.
Extra information, unreleased track "Fantasia Gotica" timeline:
• Predating to March 16, 2011, Luca Turilli said in interviews that there was a song called "Fantasia Gotica" that was going to be released on the Rhapsody Of Fire album "From Chaos To Eternity" (quoting: «For my song, Fantasia Gotica, I wrote and finalized the cinematic orchestral arrangements inspired by the visionary genius of Tim Burton.») but in the end this did not happen, and the track was never part of the official announced tracklist either.
• In January 31, 2012 when Luca Turilli's Rhapsody - Ascending To Infinity was announced, Track 7 was originally going to be Fantasia Gotica, that's how it was announced in the official tracklist, on social media and on the official website itself, along with a poster featuring Luca's new band logo. But in the end, once again, this did not happen, and "Luna" (a cover of Alessandro Safina which was intended to be a bonus track at the beginning) was the song that replaced it instead in the final release. According to interviews, Luca said that during production and due to time constraints they couldn't finish it, so the final tracklist was changed and "Luna" ended up replacing it. When the album was finally released in June 22, 2012, Luca said that the intention was to make "Fantasia Gotica" available as free download starting in September or October 2012, once the mixing of the song was complete and to promote the new tour, but ultimately (again) this didn't happen. According to an answer to a message on his Instagram a few years later, he said the song was ultimately scrapped until he could record it with a real orchestra.
• In March 23, 2015 when Luca Turilli's Rhapsody - Prometheus (Symphonia Ignis Divinus) was announced, it was said that the first single to be released next month in April 24th, «Rosenkreuz (The Rose and the Cross)», would also include "Fantasia Gotica" as bonus track. Once again, our dreams fade away, because this didn't happen either, and that was the end of any news for that song, which remains unreleased to this day.
