About
Released nearly two years after he first hit the charts with "Maybellene," Chuck Berry's first LP shows off all his skills. Aside from the teenage concerns of "School Days,” the vibe is more R&B than teenybopper pop. While "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" and "Too Much Monkey Business" have a fairly mature perspective, the bass-driven calypso grind of "Havana Moon," the comic blues of "No Money Down," and the liquid instrumental "Deep Feeling" keep it mellow.
