This box set doesn’t just unearth ephemera from Jane’s Addiction’s classic 1986–1991 period—it practically locks you in the jam space with the alt-rock legends as they lay down fierce takes of songs that would surface on their first three albums. <i>Cabinet</i>’s first two discs are given over mostly to demos that show future prog-metal showstoppers like “Three Days” already in battle-ready shape; on the third disc, a live set from 1990, ragers like “Ain’t No Right” capture Jane’s in their mosh-pit-stoking prime.
